Tech Mahindra is the Multinational Technical Company of India, headquartered in Pune. It provides Information Technology and Business Outsourcing Services. It is owned by the parent company Mahindra group and has more than 973 active clients as of April 2020.
It is ranked as the 47th in the list of India’s Fortune and provides its services to around 90 countries with more than 141,193 (2021) employees around the globe.
Technical Hierarchy of Tech Mahindra
As with the other international IT companies, Tech Mahindra also uses the Band system to assign the Technical Hierarchy. A band is nothing but a grading method used by IT companies to standardize the experts and technicians based on the responsibility they undertake.

U Band
The U band can be considered as the entry or base level band in the internal Hierarchy of the Tech Mahindra. It constitutes of different level based on the experience and responsibility here, are they –
U1- Associate Software Engineer
This band will be allotted if you are a fresher getting hired by the company. Most of the new software engineers are hired under this band and will be serving at this level for 6 or 12 months.
An Associate Software Engineer is a person who involves in the product designing, develop codes for the projects and involve in the maintenance of the existing product.
In short, he is an assistant for the software engineer. The average annual salary of an Associate Software Engineer in Tech Mahindra is 3-4 lakhs INR.
U2 – Software Engineer
After serving in the U1 position for more than 1 year or if you have prior experience, then you will be getting hired/promoted into the U2 band. It is the 2nd level band that serves the same purposes like designing the software, and maintenance.
A software engineer plays an important key role in software development. He/She is the person who helps in developing software as per the designing team architect. If the project is large then the resource may get assistance from the associate software engineer.
The Annual average salary of a Software Engineer of Tech Mahindra company is 3-5 lakhs INR.
U3– Senior Software Engineer
This is the next band level you assigned when you got promoted from the U2/Software Engineer. You may get promoted based on your performance and talent. Usually, you will be promoted to U3 after more than 3 years of work experience as a software engineer.
There is not much difference in the responsibility, you will be involved software development process, but as a senior software engineer, you will be providing advice to other engineers.
The average annual salary of a Senior Software Engineer in Tech Mahindra is 6-8 lakhs INR.
U4 – Team Lead
This is the next level you will get promoted. Here you will be held responsible to supervise the particular team of engineers and guide them accordingly to achieve the final project completion.
The average salary of a Team Lead in the Tech Mahindra is 10-12 lakhs INR.
P Band
The P band is the next level band used for the persons who deal in a particular project level.
P1 – Project Manager
He oversees the designated projects of the company and communicates with multiple teams leads to knowing the process of development. He is the one who coordinates the task and assigns the jobs for each one. He decides the timeline, budget, and other things related to particular software development.
In simple words, he is the one who manages the projects of the company. The average annual salary of the project manager in Tech Mahindra is 12-20 lakhs INR.
There is also further position as
P2- program manager,
E1- (IBU )Unit leader and
E2: IBG(Group) Head.
But these positions are not seen on every branch of Tech Mahindra and they serve the same purpose with a salary increase.
