Software Engineer Grade Levels: Intel Corporation
The Software Engineer and other technical positions are covered between Grade 5 – Grade 13 on Intel Organizational Hierarchy. Here are they –
Grade 5 – Software Engineer (Entry Level)
You can be hired as a Grade 5 Engineer without any experience directly after your graduation. This may vary from job to job.
The average year of experience for a Grade 5 Engineer is 0 – 2 Years. The Annual Average Salary of the Software Engineer (Entry Level) is $ 130K, which consists of a base salary of $ 106K, the Stock option of $ 14K, Bonus of $ 10K.
Grade 6 – Software Engineer
If you have done your master’s degree or with good work experience then you will be directly hired to the Grade 6 position. The responsibility and duties are the same as the previous one.
The average year of experience for a Grade 6 Engineer is 1 – 3 Years. The Annual Average Salary of the Software Engineer is $ 147K, which consists of a base salary of $ 123K, the Stock option of $ 12K, Bonus of $ 11K.
Grade 7 – Senior Software Engineer
After gaining enough experience you will be promoted to a Senior Software Engineer, who manages different projects. You can also be directly hired with your Ph.D. or Prior Work experience.
The average year of experience for a Grade 7 Engineer is 2 – 4 Years. The Annual Average Salary of the Senior Software Engineer is $ 182K, which consists of a base salary of $ 141K, the Stock option of $ 23K, Bonus of $ 19K.
Grade 8 – Staff Engineer
From this level, you will have exposure to the managerial side of the company. And you can also choose to move to the managerial side.
The average year of experience for a Grade 8 Engineer is 5- 6 Years. The Annual Average Salary of the Staff Engineer is $ 219K, which consists of a base salary of $ 159K, the Stock option of $ 34K, Bonus of $ 26K.
Grade 9 – Senior Staff Engineer
It is a position equal to tech lead or project manager. You will handle a team of developers to develop or create solutions.
The average year of experience for a Grade 9 Engineer is 7 – 8 Years. The Annual Average Salary of the Senior Staff Engineer is $ 275K, which consists of a base salary of $ 188K, the Stock option of $ 47K, Bonus of $ 40K.
Grade 10 – Principal Engineer
The principal engineer is the highest position that can be directly hired, however, it needs multiple qualifications. He is the one to whom every tech personnel reports.
The average year of experience for a Grade 10 Engineer is 12 – 13 Years. The Annual Average Salary of the Principal Engineer is $ 356K, which consists of a base salary of $ 219K, the Stock option of $ 63K, Bonus of $ 77K.
Grade 11 – Senior Principal Engineer
It is the senior level position of the previous one.
The average year of experience for a Grade 11 Engineer is 14 – 17 Years. The Annual Average Salary of the Senior Principal Engineer is $ 485K, which consists of a base salary of $ 270K, the Stock option of $ 134K, Bonus of $ 118K.
Grade 12 & 13
After Grade 11, comes the senior most level i.e. Grade 12 or a Fellow and Grade 13 or a Senior Fellow.
